Jacking In/A Series on Cyberspace Literacy presents:
Using USENET: A Crash Course
USENET, a worldwide computer-conferencing system is one of the most
important channels for free speech on the planet. It has also been
refered to by one of its own as "a source of mind-boggling amounts of
excrement." Carrying uncensored discussions on thousands of subjects to
millions of users in dozens of countries, there's nothing else quite
like it. Eric Theise will give an introductory talk about Bay Area
access to USENET, demonstrate the nn and tin newsreaders, and offer
strategies for dealing with infoglut.
$3-$5 sliding scale.
